Have You Called The Auto Towing Service? Don't Make These 3 Mistakes

Posted on: 25 March 2022

Owning a car gives you the freedom to drive to wherever you want to go whenever you want. However, this freedom can quickly be cut short if you experience issues with your car in the middle of the road. Car issues can arise for various reasons, from a dead battery to an accident. You might need to call a towing company to tow your vehicle to the auto repair professionals or your desired destination when you encounter such issues.

However, you can make certain mistakes that could worsen the situation before towing service team arrives. Below are things to avoid before the tow truck arrives.

1. Assuming Other Drivers Can See You

One of the first things you have to do when your car breaks downs is to let other road users know this. That does not mean you should stay outside your vehicle directing traffic because that might be risky. Instead, you can take simple steps to alert other drivers that your car is stationary. The first thing you should do is switch on your hazard lights. Next, put up reflective cones or triangles around your motor to make sure drivers can easily see there is an issue. These simple steps will also make the tow truck driver easily spot your car.

2. Taking Rides or Seeking Help From Random Drivers

Though you might want to leave the accident scene or where your damaged car is, taking rides from random people is not recommended. Also, you already have a towing truck on the way coming to assist you. This tow truck will not only transport your car but can drop you off at a safe location. They can also organize a cab service to get you to your workplace, home, or a safe location. So, you don't need to accept help or random rides after calling the towing company.

3. Leaving Your Vehicle

You should only leave your car in the middle of a busy road when you suspect there is a fire risk. Staying around your vehicle is important since you can let anyone who comes to your car know that you already have help on the way. Moreover, leaving your car might attract thieves who can take your personal belongings or remove car parts. So, if you cannot stay outside the car for safety or security reasons, stand within a safe, visible distance from the vehicle.

Although it is frustrating for your motor vehicle to break down on the road, making the above mistakes might worsen the problem. It is also important to have a reliable towing service you can call in such situations to quickly solve the problem.
